The Rosedale United Church Choir is a traditional SATB choir which helps to lead worship services and concerts. The choir regularly welcomes new members and does not require prior musical training. Its members vary in musical skill and are dedicated to the art of making beautiful choral music. Directed by Dr. Sarah Svendsen, the focus of the Choir is to foster a sense of community, support, and joyful learning. Professional singers are dispersed amongst volunteers to provide leadership and guidance.
The Rosedale United Church Choir sings in varied musical styles including classical, folk, gospel, baroque, and 20th century french and pop. Some of their regular repertoire includes music by The Beatles, Duruflé, G.F. Handel, Allister MacGillivray, The Manhattan transfer, Mozart, Sarah Quartel, and Undine Smith Moore.
The schedule of the Rosedale United Church Choir is modular, allowing volunteer members to join for both smaller or longer periods of time. Weekly rehearsals are Sunday mornings from 9-10 a.m. during which time singers work on music up to six weeks ahead of time. 7:15-9:15 p.m. Thursday Evening Rehearsals are added for the six weeks prior to Christmas Eve (to help prepare for the Christmas Concert and Sing-a-Long, The Lessons and Carols Service which happens on the 4th Sunday of Advent, and the 10 p.m. Christmas Eve Candlelight Service) as well as the seven weeks prior to Easter (to help prepare for the Good Friday Choral Service and Sunday Morning Easter Service).
