Gibimishkaadimin:
"Travelling Together by Boat"

We are a proud founding partner of Gibimishkaadimin, a Truth and Reconciliation commitment promoting outdoor leadership experience, Indigenous cultural learnings, and friendships across cultures and geographies. Each summer, between 20 and 25 Indigenous youth from across Canada and non-Indigenous youth from south central Ontario take part in a week-long summer canoe trip on Lake Temagami, followed by a mid-winter reunion in Toronto. Through teachings about Indigenous culture and traditions, teamwork and learning outdoor skills on both land and water, new friendships and unique bonds are formed literally from coast to coast to coast.

Alongside Bloor Street United Church and Fairlawn Avenue United Church, we continue to work with the United Church of Canada to explore permanency for Gibimishkaadimin.
