Woodworking with Doug

Mondays | 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
September 21, October 19 & December 7
Three-session term | Limited to 10 participants

Interested in learning some traditional woodworking skills? Join Doug for a hands-on introduction to woodworking techniques and joinery using hand tools and a variety of woods. No previous experience is required, and all tools will be provided.

Woodworking meets once a month and is offered as a three-session term, giving participants a chance to build their skills from one gathering to the next. With space limited to just 10 people, there will also be plenty of opportunity for individual help.

Come ready to learn, make something with your hands and enjoy a relaxed morning together. And knowing Doug, there are likely to be a few laughs mixed in with the sawdust.

Meet Doug

Rev. Doug Norris retired from active ministry in 2019 after 18 years as Lead Minister at Rosedale United Church. He remains a much-loved member of the Rosedale family and returns throughout the year as a guest preacher.

What many people may not know is that Doug is also a skilled carpenter - and he has left his mark all over the building. Since retiring, he has built custom choir risers, installed our art-hanging system, added bookshelves and a custom bar and shelving in Clark Hall, and most recently built the new fence along the south side of the property.

Doug brings the same warmth and sense of humour to the workshop that many at Rosedale already know well, so expect the sessions to be practical, informal and fun.
