Baking with Silke

Come into the kitchen, roll up your sleeves and spend some time baking together.

This isn't a baking class - it's a chance to connect with others while making something delicious. For the first gathering, Silke will choose the recipe and have all the ingredients ready. While we mix, measure and bake, there will be lots of time to swap favourite recipes, share baking tips and stories, and simply enjoy being together.

And of course, the bakers will get to sample what they've made! The remaining treats will be shared at our Hospitality Station in the Catherine Grant Art Gallery, so others visiting Rosedale can enjoy them too.

Whether you've been baking for decades or rarely turn on the oven, you're welcome. You don't need to know how to bake - just come ready to participate, chat and have some fun.

Meet Silke

Silke Dorego is the Office Manager at Rosedale United Church and The Rosedale Centre - but her background goes well beyond the church office. Silke trained in Germany as a professional pastry chef and previously worked with Movenpick Restaurants of Switzerland in Toronto, where she held management roles including Executive Pastry Chef and Assistant Catering Manager and helped coordinate catered events for as many as 800 guests.

She also brings the warm hospitality that is such an important part of her work at Rosedale. With years of experience welcoming people and creating spaces where they feel comfortable and at home, Silke is the perfect person to bring people together around the kitchen table.
