Some people thought we were being a bit too aggressive with our target of 500 coats. Well, happy to report you proved them wrong. To date, we have received and packed 564 warm coats and 151 layers (vests, polar fleece, rain jackets). In addition, we have received very generous financial donations which will allow us to buy a lot more coats. Thank you for sharing your warm coats, your resources and your time volunteering.
In addition to the clothes we will be sharing with the frontline outreach teams at Fred Victor/CRC, Metropolitan United, Sanctuary Toronto Ministries and the Roehampton Shelter, we have delivered several good coats to New Circles to be included in their Dress for Success efforts and will be sharing a small mountain of children’s ski jackets and snow pants with the families housed at the Red Door Shelter.
Coats are still trickling into the church this week. We will be making two deliveries to the four outreach groups - what we have now will be going in the next few days. We will make a second delivery once we have bought the coats with your financial donations. We will deliver any extra coats that arrive between now and then in the second batch. If you still have coats to deliver, please bring them to the church during regular business hours. Please call our Church Administrator, Cynthia McDonald at 416-924-0725 ext 101 to confirm when you will be bringing your donation as the side door is not always unlocked.
