Spiritual Practices to Nourish and Fill Your Soul

We are all living through extraordinary times right now. Bread for the Journey is a new group that meets monthly (the last Wednesday of every month at 7:30pm) to engage ancient and modern spiritual practices to feed the body and replenish the soul. Feel free to pop into the sessions that interest you most or come to them all.

Each spiritual practice is paired with a book written by a leader in that field. Discussion builds from each book’s insights, but no one needs to have read the book to attend. Each session ends with a tangible example of the practice for you to take with you as a means of supporting your spirit in challenging times.

Our first practice is prayer and our first book Learning to Pray: A Guide for Everyone, by James Martin. A New York Times bestseller, Learning to Pray has been described as, “A smart, wise, often side-splittingly funny master class in seeking God. Any spiritual seeker—from atheist to professional religious—will cherish this bravura tome from one of our great spiritual guides, in the lineage of C. S. Lewis, Henri Nouwen, Thomas Merton, Gandhi, and Mother Teresa.”

You can borrow this book from the Toronto Public Library here. You can also borrow it from the library in large print here or borrow the ebook here. You can order the book online through Indigo here.

We hope you'll join us! Email Rev. Dr. Kristin Philipson at kphilipson@rosedaleunited.org to obtain the Zoom link.
