Winter is coming - help keep the community warm.

In Toronto, over 10,000 people suffer from homelessness each night, burdened with facing the incredibly cold Canadian winter. Last year, 34 people froze to death on the streets in Toronto.

Rosedale United Church (“RUC”) is determined to collect 500 warm jackets for the people of Toronto who don’t have the privilege of being able to purchase a warm coat this winter.   We think this goal will be easy to attain by reaching out to our extended community.

Of course, if we can collect more than 500, we won’t stop there, as there is a desperate need.

Who will receive our warm jackets? The jackets we collect with your generous support will be shared, according to their needs, amongst the outreach facilities of Fred Victor/CRC, the Metropolitan United Church, Sanctuary Toronto Ministries and the Roehampton Shelter.

The ways you can donate include:

Donate one or more adult water/windproof winter jackets. (Good condition used, or new)

AND/ORDonate $100 to Rosedale United Church to help us buy warm jackets for the homeless.

The coats can be dropped off at RUC on November 17, 18, and 21.

The knowledge and joy of helping to keep our fellow citizens of Toronto warmer and safer on frigid winter nights. As well, the individual or family to contribute the highest number of jackets will receive a special surprise!

When/Where to drop off the jackets?

On Tuesday, November 17th and Wednesday November 18th from 4-6pm, and on Saturday, November 21st from 12:30-4pm at the side door of Rosedale United Church (159 Roxborough Dr., Toronto, Ontario). If you are unable to deliver your jackets to the church please contact Clare Barry at 416-489-5686 or by email at [email protected] or Liam Barry at [email protected], and indicate where and when jackets can be picked up.
