 nitive psychologists call this ability episodic memory. How does episodic 
 memory work? How can we study it? In this talk\, Professor Buddhika Bellan
 a will give a brief introduction into the science of episodic memory. He w
 ill also share some of the recent research from his lab that uses stories 
 — the kind we often read for pleasure — to gain insights into how huma
 n memory works\nAbout Prof. Buddhika Bellana\nBuddhika Bellana\, PhD is an
  Associate Professor of Science at Glendon College and a cognitive neurosc
 ientist exploring how humans remember\, think\, and derive meaning from na
 rratives and experiences. Using behavioural and neurocognitive approaches\
 , he maps the neural networks underlying episodic memory and spontaneous t
 hought. He earned his PhD from the University of Toronto and completed pos
 tdoctoral fellowships at Johns Hopkins University and the University of To
 ronto. Fluent in both English and French\, Prof. Bellana actively engages 
 in graduate supervision\, mentorship\, and collaborative research at the f
